United Nations Security Council
Topic A: Tensions and stability in North Africa, with focus on territorial disputes and military buildup.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is a primary UN body responsible for global peace and security. Comprising 15 member states, it addresses conflicts, imposes sanctions, and authorizes peacekeeping missions, striving to maintain international stability and prevent threats to peace. At BISH MUN, delegates will be focusing on the conflict in Sudan between rival sectors of the military government. Addressing military conflicts in Sudan is vital for regional stability and human rights. Ongoing conflicts, like the Darfur and South Kordofan conflicts, have resulted in widespread violence and displacement. Resolving these issues is crucial to preventing further humanitarian crises and promoting peace and development in the region.
