United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund
Topic A: Combating child labour in global supply chains, focusing on industries such as fashion and technology
UNICEF, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, is a global agency devoted to safeguarding children's rights and well-being. It provides aid, healthcare, education, and protection to children in need worldwide, striving to create a brighter future for every child, regardless of their circumstances. At BISH MUN, delegates will be focusing on combating child labour in global supply chains, focusing on industries such as fashion and technology. Addressing child labor is vital as it protects children from exploitation, ensures their right to education and a healthy childhood, and contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), in 2020, an estimated 160 million children were engaged in child labor worldwide. By addressing child labor, children's rights can be protected, along with promoting global social progress and economic development.
